People are interested in the question of how to learn about site traffic in two cases: either the performance of their own site is interesting, or they want to follow a competitor.
Own site
The number of visits to your own site can be set with maximum accuracy. With one caveat: you must have a Yandex.Metrica or Google.Analytics counter installed.
When it comes to Yandex.Metrica, then you will need access to the Yandex account on which Metrica is registered. If the account does not belong to you, you can ask the owner to give you guest access.
You can check the counter and find its identifier as follows:
- Open the HTML source code of the site (for example, press Ctrl + U in the Chrome browser)
- You can search for the words “yaCounter” and “GoogleAnalytics”
You can check the availability of the counter and find out its identifier like this: p >
Another site
If if you want to know the traffic of someone else's site (or you don’t have access to your statistics), the accuracy of the result will be much lower. For evaluation, you can use any of the analytics services. Here are some of them:
If there are enough statistics for the site you are interested in (and there is noticeable traffic on the site), you will receive both data on average traffic and an estimate of traffic distribution by channels (for example, what percentage of conversions comes from search, which - from paid advertising, which - from social networks and so on).
There are no problems in finding out site traffic; the only question is accuracy.
